It’s that time of year again. The promise token season. The moment we all get to celebrate when we get to take care of the old and the new. It’s a time to reflect and reflect on what we hope to accomplish next year.
Its a very important time. The promise token season is the point in time where we have all our best intentions realized. It’s the time when we say, “Okay guys, you’ve had your fun with the old, now it’s time to show us how amazing you are!” and just as we’re all about to turn in to a couple of hours of sleep, we’re going to wake up and be a better person.
The promise token season is really all about saying, “I can be a better person.” There is this very real expectation among many people that they will have a very good year in terms of their health, their appearance, their career, etc. It is important to make sure that we are all living up to that expectation every year (and more importantly, not letting ourselves slip into complacency) because it is a huge weight on our minds at the beginning of the new year.
When we promise ourselves we will be a better person, we are really saying “I can be the person that I was before last year; that person who is capable of being a good person, and that person who is able to be a good person.” The difference between people who say these phrases and people who have a tendency to fall into a complacency trap is that one of them will be able to be a good person and the other will be unable to.
The first season of promise token is over. It’s over because our friends and family have all been saying how they hope we can keep this promise, and we can’t. The people that we are now closest to, we have all been promising we would be a better person this year, and we can’t.
We cant because we want to, and we are not the ones who are supposed to be promising. Instead we are the ones who keep saying we are, and we cant. We are the ones that are keeping the promise, and we cant.
The people who we are now closest to, we all agreed were the ones who could keep the promise, and we cant. So when we try to say it, we cant.
We are constantly promising to change, to become better people this year, and we cant. We cant because we want to, and we are not the ones who are supposed to be promising. Instead we are the ones who keep saying we are, and we cant. We are the ones that are keeping the promise, and we cant.
I have always been concerned about how this will affect the community. But the word “promise” doesn’t apply. Not even in this case, but at least in my opinion. But I don’t think we’re going to lose the whole “promise token” thing. Instead, we’ll have to figure out how to make sure that this new token will really help us to keep our promises.
Not necessarily. I think that in order to truly maintain good will, we have to maintain the idea that we are good, that we are worthy of keeping the promise, and that once we are, we will keep it. In my opinion we are still a bit of a mystery to ourselves, so we are still trying to prove that we are worthy of keeping these promises. So a promise is still a promise, but a promise cannot be kept.
